About British Columbia's Regions
British Columbia is a massive Canadian province located between the 49th and 60th parallels (just north of Washington State, Idaho and part of Montana, and southeast of Alaska). BC contains untamed wilderness, metropolitan cities, mountains, desert, rainforest, huge rivers and canyons, and giant islands. This province can be roughly divided into the following regions:
Northern BC
The vast wilderness area of Northern British Columbia is an unspoiled masterpiece of nature. The mountain ranges, which dominate the northern landscape, were shaped by volcanic fire; the rugged, heavily forested valleys between them were carved by glaciers which at one time covered most of the province.

Queen Charlotte Islands
The Queen Charlotte Islands consist of about 150 islands the two largest being Graham Island to the north and Moresby Island just south of it. The area is sometimes referred to as "Galapagos of the North" and is ideal for photography, boating, whale watching, wildlife watching, hiking, camping, birdwatching and exploring.
Plentiful in these islands are: gray whales during Spring and early Summer, the largest black bears in North America, the largest type of turtle in the world as well as bald eagles and ravens. There are also 5 species of Salmon.

Thompson & Okanagan
